Abraham Rescues Lot

Gen. 14: 8-16

Lesson Content

1. Lot who was living together with Abraham, after parting from him went to Sodom and settled there. The men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly (Gen.13:11-13).

2. The king of Elam, with three other kings o n his side, made war with the king of Sodom. The king of Sodom was supported by four other kings, that is, four kings fought with five (Gen.14:8,9).

3. The king of Sodom and the other four kings who supported him were defeated and they fled (Gen.14:10).

4. The goods of Sodom were plundered, and Lot who dwelt in Sodom was taken captive together with his family and people. All his goods were taken away (Gen.14:11,12).

5. Abraham was told about the incident (Gen.14:13).

6. Abraham armed his trained servants, three hundred and eighteen in all, pursued them who had taken the people as captives and smote them, rescued Lot, his family and all the people and recovered the goods (Gen.14:14-16).

7. This incident shows how Abraham’s love for Lot did not change, even after they had parted from each other.

Moral

When the children of God are in trouble, we should go all out to help them.
