The Wise Men See Jesus

Matthew 2:1-12

Lesson Content

1. A new star appeared in the East when Jesus was born in Bethlehem (Matt.2:1,2).

2. The wise men saw it and came to Jerusalem saying, “Where is he that is born King of the Jews”? (Matt.2:2).

3. When king Herod heard this, he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him (Matt.2:3).

4. From the chief priests and scribes, Herod came to know that the King of the Jews will be born in Bethlehem (Matt.2:4,5).

5. Herod sent the wise men to see Jesus and to bring word to him again so that he also might go and worship Him (Matt.2:8).

6. Guided by the star, the wise men came to the place where the child was, saw the young child and His mother and worshipped Him. They presented the child gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh (Matt. 2:9-11).

7. Being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, the wise men went back to their own country by another way (Matt.2:12).

Moral

Jesus was manifested as the Saviour not only to the Jews but also to the Gentiles.
