Reading Portion

John 2:1-11

Lesson Content

1. There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee (Jn.2:1).

2. The mother of Jesus was there (Jn.2:1).

3. Jesus and His disciples were called to the marriage (Jn.2:2).

4. When the wine was wanting, the mother of Jesus informed Jesus about it (Jn.2:3).

5. Jesus replied, “Mine hour is not yet come” (Jn.2:4).

6. The mother of Jesus told the servants, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it” (Jn.2:5).

7. Jesus asked the servants to fill with water the six water pots of stone available there. They did so (Jn.2:6,7).

8. Jesus told them to draw it out and bear it to the governor of the feast (Jn.2:8).

9. The governor of the feast called the Bridegroom and said, “Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now” (Jn.2:9,10).

10. From this we understand that Jesus changed the water into good wine. This was the first miracle that Jesus performed (Jn.2:11).
