Cain and Abel

Lesson Content
1. Adam and Eve had two sons. The elder was Cain and the younger was Abel.
2. Cain was a tiller of the ground and Abel was a keeper of sheep (Gen.4:2).
3. One day Cain and Abel brought offerings unto God. Cain brought of the fruit of the ground because he was a tiller of the ground; Abel brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof because he was a keeper of sheep (Gen.4:3,4). But about Cain’s offering it is not mentioned that he brought the best of the produce of the field.
4. God accepted the offering of Abel but did not accept the offering of Cain (Gen.4:4,5).
5. Cain was very angry with his brother Abel. One day while they were in the field, he killed Abel (Gen.4:5,8).
6. When God asked Cain, “Where is Abel thy brother?” he did not give a proper answer. He said, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Gen.4:9).
7. The Lord cursed Cain (Gen.4:11,12).
8. When Cain pleaded with the Lord, He set a mark upon hi m so that no one would kill him (Gen.4:13-15).
Moral
God looks into our heart and watches our actions. He does not like those who have evil natures like wrath and envy. Such natures will make us terrible sinners.
