Noah and the Ark (Part I)

Gen. 6:5—7:16

Lesson Content

1. There was a just and perfect man called Noah, who walked with God (Gen.6:9).

2. His family consisted of eight members — Noah, his wife, three sons and their wives (Gen.6:10,18).

3. The people of the time were wicked and did not fear God. Therefore God decided to destroy them by flood (Gen.6:5,7).

4. God wanted to preserve Noah and his family and He commanded Noah to make an ark (Gen.6:14). Noah did according to the command of God.

5. The ark had three storeys (Gen.6:16) and it would have taken many years to build it.

6. Everybody who saw the ark would have asked: “Why is such a big ark necessary?” Noah would have answered saying, “There is a great flood coming; I am making this to escape it”.

7. God commanded Noah to bring, into the ark, a pair of every sort of fowl, cattle and creeping thing, to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth (Gen. 6:19,20)

8. Noah did accordingly and his family went into the ark (Gen. 7:7).

9. It began to rain. The Lord shut the door of the ark (Gen. 7:112,16)

Moral

The Lord knows how to preserve the righteous and the upright.
