The Tower of Babel

Gen. 11:1-9
Lesson Content
1. Noah and his family were saved fro m being destroyed by the flood, by means of the ark. Through them people again multiplied upon the earth (Gen.9:1,19).
2. These people decided to build a city and a tower so that they might not be scattered upon the face of the whole earth (Gen. 11:1-4).
3. All the people spoke the same language, and they thought that nothing could restrain them from doing that which they imagined to do (Gen.11:6).
4. The Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the children of men built (Gen.11:5).
5. Then the Lord confounded their language, so that they might not understand one another’s speech (Gen.11:7).
6. So they were unable to build the city (Gen.11:8).
7. God scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth (Gen.11:8).
8. The place was called Babel because it was there that the Lord confounded the language of all the earth. (Gen.11:9).
Moral
When the thoughts of man’s heart are not upright, the Lord confounds them.
