Standard 2 · Lesson 13

Jesus Heals the Man Sick of the Palsy

Reading Portion

Mark 2:1-12

Lesson Content

1. When the people heard that Jesus was in a house in Capernaum, many gathered together so that there was no room even to stand before the door (Mk. 2: 1, 2).

2. Jesus preached the Word to them. Four people bore one person who was sick of the palsy and brought him to Jesus (Mk.2:2,3).

3. Unable to come near Him because of the press, they uncovered the roof and let down the bed wherein the sick man lay (Mk.2:4).

4. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the sick of the palsy, “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee” (Mk.2:5).

5. Then the scribes hearing this, reasoned in their hearts that He was blaspheming, as God alone could forgive sins (Mk.2:6,7).

6. Jesus told them that they should know that the Son of man had power on earth to forgive sins (Mk.2:8-10).

7. Jesus then told the sick man, “Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house” (Mk.2:11).

8. He immediately arose, took up his bed and went before them all (Mk.2:12).

Moral

When we show our faith through our works, the Lord honours it.
