Jesus Chooses the Twelve Apostles

Reading Portion

Luke 6:12-16

1. Jesus went up into a mountain to pray and continued all night i n prayer to God (Lk.6:12).

2. At dawn, He called unto Him His disciples and chose twelve and He called them ‘Apostles’ (Lk.6:13).

3. An apostle is one who is sent (Jn.20:21).

4. Their names (Lk.6:14-16).

5. The power and authority that Jesus gave them (Lk.9:1,2).

Even as Jesus prayed and chose His apostles, we also should do all things with prayer.

“And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.”
