Lot Flees from Sodom

Gen. 19:1-26

Lesson Content

1. The sin of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah was grievous and their cry reached God (Gen. 18:20,21).

2. Two angels visited Sodom when Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom (Gen. 19:1).

3. Lot received them, took them to his house and extended hospitality to them (Gen. 19:2,3).

4. The men of Sodom came to attack the angels (Gen. 19:4,5).

5. The men were smitten with blindness (Gen. 19:11).

6. The angels gave Lot the message of God that Sodom was going to be destroyed and they advised them to hasten and ge t out of the city with his family (Gen. 19:12-15).

7. When Lot lingered, the angels took him, his wife and two daughters by hand and brought them out of the city and asked them to escape for their life to the mountain and not to look back (Gen. 19:16,17).

8. Lot asked for permission to flee to a nearby little city instead of to the mountain and the Lord granted his request (Gen. 19:18-22).

9. After this the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire out of heaven and overthrew those citi es and their inhabitants (Gen. 19:24,25).

10. Lot’s wife looked back and became a pillar of salt (Gen. 19:26).

Moral

The Lord, out of His great compassion, warns His people to give up the sinful world which is reserved unto fire and to escape to the heavenly refuge.
