Joseph in Prison

Lesson Content

1. When Joseph went to see whether it was well with his brethren, they took him and cast him into a pit. Later they lifted him up out of the pit and sold him to the Ishmaelites. The Ishmaelites took him t o Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, an officer of Pharoah. In Potiphar’s house he was falsely accused and cast into prison.

2. Even in the prison the Lord was with him, and whatever he did, He made it to prosper (Gen.39:20,23).

3. The chief butler and the chief baker of the king were also held as prisoners in the prison (Gen.40:2,3).

4. The dream of the chief butler (Gen.40:9-11).

5. Joseph’s interpretation of this dream (Gen. 40:12,13).

6. The dream of the chief baker (Gen.40:16,17).

7. Joseph’s interpretation of this dream (Gen. 40:18,19).

8. On the third day, the interpretation of these dreams were fulfilled. Though the chief butler was restored to his butlership again, he did not remember Joseph but forgot him and so he did not attempt to help Joseph to be delivered from the prison.

Moral

If we live in the fear of God, then no matter where we may be, God will be with us and bless us.
