Jesus Casts Out the Legion

Lesson Content
1. The devil -possessed man who lived in the country of the Gadarenes wore no clothes, neither abode in any house but in the tombs (Lk.8:26,27).
2. Although he had been kept bound with chains and in fetters for a long time, he broke the bands and was driven of the devil into the wilderness (Lk.8:29).
3. Seeing Jesus he cried with a loud voice and be sought Him not to torment him (Lk.8:28).
4. When Jesus asked his name, he said that it was ‘Legion’, because there were many devils in him (Lk. 8:30).
5. Knowing that Jesus would send them to hell, the devils besought Him not to do so but to allow them to enter into a herd of swine. Jesus permitted them to do so (Lk.8:31,32).
6. Accordingly the devils left the man and entered into the swine feeding on a high mountain. The herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake and were choked (Lk.8:33).
7. The man from whom the devils departed sat at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind (Lk.8:35).
Moral
Though one may be bound by many kinds of devils for several years, when one comes to Jesus perfect deliverance can be experienced.
