Jairus’ Daughter Raised to Life

Luke 8:41,42,49-56

Lesson Content

1. Jairus was the ruler of a synagogue. He had only one daughter who was twelve years old. As she was at the point of death, Jairus besought Jesus to come into his house (Lk.8:41,42).

2. As He went, one came from the house of Jairus saying that his daughter was dead. He asked Jairus not to trouble the Master (Lk.8:42,49).

3. Jesus heard it and told him, “Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole” (Lk.8:50).

4. When Jesus came to Jairus’ house and saw everybody weeping, He said, “Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth” (Lk.8:52).

5. They laughed Him to scorn because they knew she was dead (Lk.8:53).

6. He put them all out, took her by her hand, saying, “Maid, arise” (Lk.8:54).

7. Her spirit came again and she arose immediately (Lk.8:55).

8. Her parents were astonished. Jesus’ command regarding this incident (Lk.8:56).

Moral

The Lord can not only heal all manner of sicknesses but can also raise the dead.
