The Death of John the Baptist

Lesson Content
1. King Herod was a wicked man. When John the Baptist pointed out his sin, he cast him into prison (Mk.6:17,18).
2. Herodias, the wife of Herod wanted to kill John the Baptist, but could not (Mk.6:19).
3. Herod’s birthday feast (Mk.6:21).
4. Herod’s promise to Herodias’ daughter (Mk. 6:22,23).
5. She asked for the head of John the Baptist as counselled by her mother (Mk.6:24,25).
6. John the Baptist was beheaded (Mk.6:26-28).
7. His disciples buried him (Mk.6:29).
Moral
In resisting sin, we should be prepared even to lose our lives.
