Standard 3 · Lesson 17

Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand

Reading Portion

Mark 8:1-9

Lesson Content

1. Once Jesus preached for three days, to a multitude of people in a wilderness. When the three days were over, and it was time for them to return to their houses, He had compassion on them and felt that they should be given something to eat as they were hungry (Mk.8:1-3).

2. The disciples said that no food could be obtained there because it was a wilderness (Mk.8:4).

3. They had with them seven loaves and a few small fishes (Mk 8:5,7).

4. Jesus took them, gave thanks and handed them over to the disciples (Mk.8:6).

5. They set them before the people (Mk.8:6,7).

6. They that had eaten were about four thousand. They gathered seven baskets of the broken meat that was left (Mk.8:8,9).

Moral

As Jesus had compassion on the people who were hungry, He fed them. We should also be compassionate like Jesus.
