Jesus Heals the Lunatic

Matthew 17:14-21; Mark 9:14-29

Lesson Content

1. When Jesus came down to the multitude from the mount of Transfiguration, a certain man beseeched him to heal his son who was a lunatic (Matt.17:14,15).

2. The manner in which his son was tormented by that spirit from his childhood (Matt.17:15; Mk. 9:18, 21, 22).

3. His disciples not being able to heal him (Matt. 17:16).

4. Jesus reproving their unbelief (Matt.17:17).

5. The words that Jesus spoke to the father about faith and the latter’s reply (Mk.9:23,24).

6. Jesus rebukes the devil; the child is cured (Matt. 17:18; Mk 9:25-27).

7. The disciples question Jesus about their being unable to cast out the devil and His reply to them (Matt. 17:19-21).

Moral

Faith, fasting and unceasing prayer are essential to resist and overcome the devil.
