Martha and Mary

Luke 10:38-42; John 11:1

Lesson Content

1. Jesus entered the village of Bethany where there was a family of three members — Mary, Martha and Lazarus (Jn.11:1).

2. Martha received Jesus into her house (Lk.10:38).

3. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word (Lk. 10:39).

4. Martha was cumbered about much serving and complained to Jesus about Mary for not helping her in the work (Lk.10:40).

5. Jesus’ answer revealing the difference in the spiritual attitude of the two sisters (Lk.10:41,42).

Moral

We should first seek after spiritual things rather than physical needs.
