Josh. 2; 6:22-25
Lesson Content
1. Joshua succeeded Moses after his death, to lead the children of Israel (Josh.1:1,2).
2. When the Israelites were camping at Shittim before crossing the Jordan, Joshua sent two men to spy Jericho and they went and lodged in the house of Rahab, a gentile woman of Jericho (Josh.2:1).
3. The king of Jericho heard about the spies and sent men to Rahab’s house and asked her to bring them out. Rahab hid the spies with the stalks of flax which she had spread upon the roof of her house and said that the men who had come to her house had gone away in the evening (Josh.2:2-6).
4. After the pursuers had departed, Rahab conversed with the spies, asserting her firm faith in the God of Israel. She made a request to save her and her family when they captured Jericho (Josh.2:7-13).
5. The men assured her safety (Josh. 2:14).
6. She let them down by a cord through the window of her house which was situated on the town wall (Josh.2:15).
7. The instructions which the woman had to observe to ensure her safety were given to her (Josh.2:17-20).
8. Rahab agreed to the conditions and the men departed (Josh. 2:21).
9. When the Israelites captured Jericho they saved Rahab and her household according to the assurance that was given to her (Josh. 6:22-25).
