The Israelites Cross River Jordan

Lesson Content
1. The people of Israel set out from Shittim and lodged at Jordan (Josh.3:1).
2. Joshua commanded the people to sanctify themselves (Josh.3:5).
3. The next day the priests took up the ark of the covenant and passed over before the people (Josh.3:6).
4. The priests bearing the ark went ahead and the people followed about two thousand cubits away (Josh.3:3,4).
5. As soon as the feet of the priests who were bearing the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, the waters of the Jordan which was overflowing its banks rose up in a heap and the Jordan was divided into two (Josh.3:15,16).
6. The priests that bore the ark of the covenant stood in the midst of the Jordan till all the people passed over on dry ground and entered into Canaan (Josh. 3:17).
7. Joshua set up in Gilgal, the twelve stones which they took from the midst of the Jordan where the priests stood (Josh.4:3,20).
8. Joshua also set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan in the place where the feet of the priests stood (Josh.4:9).
9. Then the priests came up out of the waters and the waters of the Jordan returned unto their place and flowed over all its banks (Josh.4:18).
Moral
If we determine to enter into the spiritual Canaan even as the Israelites entered Canaan, the Lord will raise up for us apostles, who like the priests, have sacrificed their all to bear our burdens.
