Gideon

Lesson Content

1. Gideon was also one of the judges raised by God to judge the Israelites and to deliver them from their enemies.

2. The Lord deliver ed the Israelites into the hands of the Midianites because they did evil in the sight of God (Judg.6:1).

3. The angel of the Lord met Gideon and conversed with him (Judg.6:11-18).

4. Gideon prepared a meal of flesh and unleavened cakes and presented it to the angel of the Lord (Judg.6:19).

5. When the angel touched the food with the end of his staff, fire rose up and consumed it (Judg.6:20,21).

6. The angel disappeared (Judg.6:21).

7. The fear of Gideon and the Lord encouraging him (Judg.6:22,23).

8. Gideon built an altar and called it ‘Jehovah Shalom’ (Judg.6:24) which means ‘The Lord is my peace’.

Moral

The Lord will command a great victory through the people who, however few they may be, entirely surrender themselves to God and obey His counsel.
