The Trial of Jesus

Lesson Content
1. Jesus was first taken to Caiphas, the high priest (Matt.26:57).
2. False witnesses against Jesus (Matt.26:59-61).
3. To the high priest’s query, the people said that He was guilty of death (Matt.26:62-66).
4. Jesus was mocked at and persecuted (Matt. 26:67,68).
5. In the morning, Jesus was bound and brought before Pilate (Matt.27:1,2).
6. Jesus’ answer to Pilate’s question, “Art thou the king of the Jews?” (Matt.27:11).
7. Jesus answered nothing when He was falsely accused (Matt.27:12-14).
8. Pilate asked the people whom he should set free, ‘Barabbas or Jesus’ (Matt.27:15-18).
9. Pilate’s wife had a dream and she sent word to him (Matt.27:19).
10. The people cried out to release Barabbas and to crucify Jesus (Matt.27:20-23).
11. Pilate, not willing to crucify Jesus, washed his hands (Matt.27:24).
12. Pilate yielded to the desire of the people and re leased Barabbas and delivered Jesus to be crucified (Matt.27:24-26).
13. The soldiers mocked at and persecuted Jesus (Matt.27:27-31).
Moral
Jesus yielded Himself to persecution and reproach and endured them patiently in order to set an example for us. We are His children and therefore we should follow His footsteps.
