David Flees from Saul

1. David killing Goliath and Saul beginning to hate him (I Sam.18:6-9).

2. David used to play the harp before Saul when the evil spirit came upon him. Saul attempted to kill David thrice when he was thus playing the harp before him (I Sam.16:23; 18:10,11; 19:9,10).

3. David fled to Samuel in Ramah. Later both went to Naioth and lived there (I Sam.19:18).

4. Saul followed David to Naioth but could do no harm to him (I Sam.19:22-24).

5. After fleeing to many places, David abode in the wilderness of Maon. Though Saul and his men compassed David and his men, Saul had to return to the city without harming David (I Sam.23:25-28).

6. Twice David got the opportunity to slay Saul, but he spared him (I Sam.24:1-7; 26:1-12).

7. David then fled to Gath. When Saul was told that David had fled to Gath, he sought no more for him (I Sam.27:4).

Moral

David did not kill Saul who was after his life though he had opportunit ies to do so, but considered his life precious as Saul was the anointed of the Lord. Even so we should not work against those anointed of God.
