The Wisdom of Solomon

I Kgs.3; 4: 29-34; 10: 1-7,24

Lesson Content

1. Solomon loved the Lord and walked in His statutes (I Kgs.3:3).

2. His sacrifices at Gibeon and the dream that he saw (I Kgs.3:4,5).

3. He asked of the Lord for an understanding heart to judge the people, that he may discern between good and bad (I Kgs. 3:6-9).

4. The Lord blessed him not only with a wise and an understanding heart but also with riches and honour. He also promised to lengthen his days if he would keep His statutes and commandments (I Kgs.3:10-14).

5. The judgment given by Solomon concerning the matter brought by the two women (I Kgs.3:16-28).

6. Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of the children of other nations. People from all nations came to hear his wisdom (I Kgs.4:29-31,34; 10:24).

7. He framed proverbs and composed songs. He s poke about diverse trees, animals, and fowls and fishes (I Kgs.4:32,33).

8. The queen of Sheba came to prove Solomon with hard questions (I Kgs.10:1-3).

9. She acknowledged Solomon’s wisdom (I Kgs. 10:6,7).

Moral

If we humble ourselves and ask the Lord for wisdom and understanding to discharge the responsibilities He has assigned to us, the Lord will surely grant our request and bless us with all spiritual and material blessings for His glory.
