King Ahab and Naboth

I Kgs. 21; 22:35-38; II Kgs.9:30-37

Lesson Content

1. Ahab, the king of Samaria, was a wicked king (I Kgs.21:1,25,26).

2. Ahab wanted to buy Naboth’s vineyard but Naboth refused to part with it (I Kgs.21:1-3).

3. Ahab was displeased (I Kgs.21:4).

4. The conversation between Ahab and his wife Jezebel (I Kgs.21:5-7).

5. Jezebel caused Naboth’s death (I Kgs.21:8-14).

6. Ahab took the vineyard (I Kgs.21:15,16).

7. The Lord’s word that came to Elijah (I Kgs. 21:17-19).

8. Elijah pronounced the Lord’s judgment upon Ahab and Jezebel (I Kgs.21:20-24).

9. When Ahab heard this, he humbled himself (I Kgs.21:27).

10. Since he humbled himself the Lord said that He would not bring the evil in his days, but would bring it upon his house in the days of his son (I Kgs.21:28,29).

11. The judgment of God came to pass upon Ahab and Jezebel (I Kgs. 22:35-38; II Kgs.9:30-37).

Moral

God’s judgment came upon king Ahab and his wife Jezebel because of their covetousness. We should be satisfied with what we have. We should not be covetous.
