The Shunammite

Lesson Content
1. Elisha in Shunem — the hospitality of a great woman in Shunem towards Elisha (II Kgs.4:8-10).
2. Elisha came to know the need of the Shunammite through Gehazi (II Kgs.4:11-14).
3. Elisha’s blessings and her unbelief (II Kgs. 4:15,16).
4. She gave birth to a son (II Kgs.4:17).
5. The child’s death (II Kgs.4:18-20).
6. She put the child on Elisha’s bed and hastened to him to mount Carmel (II Kgs.4:21-25).
7. Elisha, seeing her afar off, sent Gehazi to enquire about the welfare of her household (II Kgs.4:25,26).
8. She caught hold of Elisha’s feet and expressed her sorrow (II Kgs.4:27,28).
9. Elisha sent Gehazi with his staff to lay it upon the face of the child, but that did not work any miracle (II Kgs.4:29,31).
10. Elisha went to the house and brought the child back to life (II Kgs.4:30,32-37).
Moral
When we minister to the saints we are ministering to God Himself and the Lord will bless us. The saints help us in times of our trials by interceding for us.

“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
